"In this painting, I've shown a coyote - one of the most opportunistic of our larger predators... In this scene, there is a frost on everything, a fresh coating of snow like icing. You may notice the tracks traversing the lower left foreground of 'Winter Trackers'. These are the tracks of cross country skiers, who treat this landscpe with respect and make the most of it, as does the coyote." - R. Bateman
