Mowed Meadow by Robert Bateman
Mowed Meadow by Robert Bateman
Published in 1987
"Mice are a much maligned group of creatuers. They are seldom seen and little understood...This little fellow is probably quite harmless. He lives in a hay field which is definitely second class. It is full of what some people call weeds but what I call meadow flowers: daisies, buttercups and goatsbeard. The grass is timothy, which is also an import and an important crop. The denizens of a meadow, particularly the voles, have organized their lives in a complicated network of trails and nests and places of interest. Then one day the farmer comes along with his mower and cuts it all down, totally changing their world." - R. Bateman
