Sandhills Spring - cowboys roping and branding triptych by Jim Rey

Sandhills Spring by Jim Rey.

Jim Rey paints the cowboy life telling stories of long days, hard work, and, often, herds of cattle to tend.  The artist knows his subjects well and enjoys bringing the viewer into all the action he creates.  These cowhands have their hands full as they round-up cattle for branding.  This region of Nebraska consists of grass and sand dunes with shallow lakes in low-lying valleys.  Cattle ranches in this area support over half-million beef cattle, making a "Sandhills Spring" a busy time for ranchers.
