Scenes of rural Mexico featuring donkeys are one of Hallmark's favorite subjects, and his original oils of such scenes are always in demand. This is a particularly charming piece complete with the old gentleman laboring in the garden beyond the arch while his friend waits patiently for him to finish. Yes, they are friends - and as such, they are loyal to one another and considerate of each other. "No need to hurry, friend. I'll just doze a bit in this shade until you're done."
