Still Water Crossing by artist Martin Grelle

Still Water Crossing by Martin Grelle.

Because of his Native American ancestry, Martin Grelle particularly enjoys painting Native Americans and their culture. He travels the West looking for perfect places within which to place his characters, and often those places include a river, stream or pond. In this piece, the deep blues of the water contrasted with the light grayish tones in the rocks alongside the stream in the foreground serve to lead the viewer into the painting and back to the sparkling white of the brave's horse. It is a peaceful, serene moment which would be punctuated only be the sounds of the forest and stream itself.
