"My drawing of "The Winter Hunter" was inspired by some descriptive narrative in Osborne Russell's book Journal of a Trapper. After Completeing the pencil drawing, I was fascinated with the possibility of creating an oil painting of the same subject. I became intrigued with the color relationship of the red wool capote against the white snow, the rough texture of the tree bark contasting with the snow-covered pine trees and the warm gray feathers of the geese." - P.
