The Guardian - Mountain Gorilla family by wildlife artist Simon Combes

The Guardian by Simon Combes.

The mountain gorilla is found in the Virguna Mountains of East Africa. Combes portrays this particular group as they take time out for relaxation during a busy day of foraging for food. Apparently the huge male has heard a strange sound. Aware of his responsibilities as the family guardian, he instantly rises to his full height, ready to take on whatever dares threaten his group.

To research "The Guardian", Combes traveled to the Parc de Volcans in Ruwanda to see the rare montain gorilla in its natural habitat.
