Of Myth and Magic - Arctic White Wolf by wildlife artist Bonnie Marris

Of Myth and Magic by Bonnie Marris
 Canis lupus arctos

Throughout history, the wolf has been seen as a mysterious and elusive creature who roams the forest in the darkness of night and howls at the moon for reasons we can only imagine. We delight and frighten our children with myths and legends of him. But the truth about the wolf is far different from the folklore, as Bonnie Marris learned after travelling to Alaska and learning about the Arctic White Wolf.

She believes the wolf is a magical animal. These age-old words by Siram B. Bew best express the emotions the rare and often misunderstood wolf evokes in the artist: "To stare into the eye of the beast with no fear - that is the moment that is the now. Within that moment is the humbling and the honor - the ice chill of truth that we will always be the hunter and the hunted. Within that eye what unspeakable worlds transcend and echo the past, the moment and the sight of a future where the heart cries: 'we are one'."
