CAPing the Tico by William Phillips
CAPing the Tico is a 1997 print by Phillips featuring the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga. What sets it apart, however, is that this great work of aviation art honors James B. Stockdale, leader of the first American air attacks against North Vietnam in 1964, leader of an organized resistance by all POWs against enemy interrogation and torture, and recipient of America's highest decoration for gallantry, the Medal of Honor.
CAPing stands for Combat Air Patrol and Tico stands for the USS Ticonderoga, the carrier on which these aircraft are based and on whose behalf they will take on all comers.
Print released 1997.
