Spring Fawn by wildlife artist Carl Brenders

Spring Fawn by Carl Brenders

"After a long, cold winter, it is always exciting to see how everything comes alive again. Sometimes after a very hard winter, one thinks that nothing could have survived, but then when the sun warms the forests, meadows, swamps and fields, everything does reappear, just as it has done for millions of years.

"Spring has always been my favorite season. As a child, I remember taking long hikes with my father in the country. Now when I see the field flowers in the spring, they bring back the feelings and the memories of those happy days. In this painting I wanted to capture those feelings in the form of a young white-tailed deer jumping acrobatically, seemingly uncontrolled, then standing still as if to see what more it could do and wondering if mother is still nearby." - Carl Brenders.
