"I will never get tired of painting owls. The barn owl is a species common to both the new and the old worlds, but it is declining at an alarming rate in Europe. In Europe, the barn owl is called the 'church owl' because it mostly nests in the towers of high buildings such as churches and castles. As owls do not worry too much about keeping their nesting places clean, the caretakers of these buildings began to close the owls' access to them. In addition the abundant use of insecticides and pesticides has caused a steep decline in the numbers of European barn owls." - Carl Brenders.
