"The purpose of this painting is to alert people to what is happening to our natural heritage and to make them aware of the beauty of this endangered, possibly extinct, species. The coloration of the ivory-billed woodpecker is similar to that of the pileated woodpecker, but it has more white on its feathers and its bill is an ivory color. It is also one of the largest woodpeckers in the world." - Carl Brenders.
