"The only way I knew to get this close to bears in a natural setting was in my imagination. I feel very fortunate to be able to do this, and I think that this is a big advantage that artists have; we can imagine a scene with such reality that the impossible becomes possible. In this painting, I wanted to show the wildness of the bear, but also the tenderness of the mother grizzly and her wonderful relationship with her cubs." - Carl Brenders.
