Buenos Dias San Miguel - donkeys in the old town by artist George Hallmark

Buenos Dias San Miguel by artist George Hallmark available from Prickly Pear Galleries.

Hallmark is known for his paintings of the warm, colorful culture of Mexico. A new day dawns on San Miguel de Allende, the historic town founded in 1542. This lovely town, with spectacular views, is known for its beautiful colonial architecture and thermal springs. The city is a mecca for artists and tourists, and also has many foreign residents.

Founded in 1542, San Miguel de Allende is one of the few towns in Mexico to be designated as a national monument. The city's major attractions are cobble-stone streets, tree-lined patios, and beautiful churches, along with its spectacular views.  Climbing its steep hills, in a region of arid sierra, San Miguel is Mexico's answer to a storybook village. One morning, I came upon this extraordinary vision of a church that seemed to rise out of the street. Buenos Dias San Miguel.
