Streamside Cougar by Dino Paravano

 

"It is an autumn afternoon in the Rocky Mountain wilderness. The stream is rushing, and you can feel the warmth of the sun on the rocks at the edge of the water. A cougar appears at streamside. Maybe it has chased its prey to this point or has seen some possibilities on the other side of the stream. The cougar looks as though it is deciding its next course of action. Perhaps it should continue to the other side, though the stream is too wide to leap across. maybe it should just rest a while and warm itself in the sun." - Dina Paravano.
