Risky Crossing by Daniel Smith

"Zebras are instinctively nervous and wary around water. The possibility of an ambush by a submerged crocodile or stalking lion is ever-present. The plains zebra is one of the most nomadic of grazers, ceaselessly in search of green pastures. They're always found in herds consisting of family members. I spent several hours at a water hole in the Ngorongoro Crater observing a multitude of ungulates quenching their thirst. Patience always pays off in enhancing my knowledge and understanding of the natural world. As an artist, it's my greatest privilege and pleasure." - Daniel Smith.
